President's Message
Dear friends,
Whether you have been a part of our congregation for years, or whether you are just starting to look for your Jewish home, we welcome you to PJC. As you drive down the rural, country roads of Millstone, you are greeted by the beauty of Perrineville Lake. It is hard to imagine that just a few decades ago, that same lake was dotted by bungalows and guest houses for Jews vacationing in the area from New York. A "mini-Catskills," Millstone and Perrienville drew many Jews to eventually settle here and build our beloved PJC, which has now celebrated its 111th anniversary.
As the father of 3 sons, I understand the challenges that families today face in balancing work, school, extracurricular activities and home. A decision to join a synagogue in an important one; and one that I hope you will find value in. Having watched my 2 oldest sons and now my youngest grow and thrive at PJC propelled me to become more involved in our synagogue, and ultimately, becoming its President. Over the last 10 years that my family has been a part of PJC, I have met some wonderful people who have become close friends, learned new things through our adult education and programs and took the trip of a life-time in 2019 with our congregational trip to Israel, which was nothing short of fabulous!
PJC works to remain relevant to the ever-evolving needs of modern day Jewish families and individuals. There is something for everyone at PJC. If your child has just finished pre-school and you are looking to keep them connected to Judaism, look no further than our incredible LEV Echad: K-2 program. If you are a young family looking to provide your child with a solid, engaging, experiential Jewish education, consider our one-day, mid-week, LEV Academy Jewish Enrichment Program that has both students and parents loving attending every week.
Learn about different aspects of our faith from explanatory prayers, to various Judaic writings and teachings from our Rabbis during our Friday night Shabbat services. Study Torah and engage in meaningful discussions about a wide variety of subjects during and after our Saturday morning services. Be an active part of our "Minyanaires Club," that works to ensure we have a minyan every Shabbat. Enjoy a wide range of programs and events for all ages through our social club. Join our Mitzvah Mensches group and help with Tikkun Olam through social action. Our clergy is available to all with a simple email, text or phone call! Someone is always available to speak with or meet with you 6 days a week. At PJC you're not a number, you are a valued partner in our family and we go out of our way to take care of you.
There are a variety of ways to learn, grow, volunteer your talents and encourage your passions at PJC. I invite you to peruse our website to provide you with more information about our warm, inclusive, and inviting synagogue. Should you wish to receive additional information or tour our facility, please feel free to contact our Executive Director, Inbar Robbins, at 732.334.8774 and she will be glad to speak and meet with you to discuss how PJC can meet your needs.
I hope to be able to meet you in the near future and welcome you, personally, to the PJC family. I wish you continued health, safety and well-being.
Sincerely,
Richard S. Robbins
